We look for companies that can change the world. We are particularly interested in emerging technologies and will consider any market-driven technology opportunity in the information technology, life sciences and cleantech sectors. We have extensive experience and strong relationships with technology transfer offices and we appreciate hard science with solid intellectual property. We especially look for opportunities to build capital-efficient companies that address billion dollar market opportunities.

DFJ Mercury typically invests between $100,000 to $1 million in seed and early-stage companies and will also build syndicates for investments needing larger amounts of capital.  We expect to invest between $1 million and $2 million over the life of an investment.

DFJ Mercury will consider an investment before a business plan or management team is finalized.  We believe the role of the venture capitalist is to help create and nurture entrepreneurs and management teams, and to assist them in fully developing their go-to-market strategies. We also believe our role is to make strategic introductions to potential managers, customers, partners and investors through our local network as well as through the global intelligence network of DFJ funds.
